PJH reviewed Journey Through Utopia by Marie-Louise Berneri
Thought provoking exploration of utopian thought
5 stars
The main text, written in the ‘40s, is of its time in style and some of the quotations from texts being discussed are over-long (and some of the discussion over-brief). The illuminating introduction, Afterword covering the period since the book was written, and postscript on modern attitudes to utopian ideas, take it from “good” to “excellent”. It isn’t the easiest read, but nor is it the hardest, and it is certainly worth the effort of reading.
