I get the impression the later books in this series are better, but this is a great start. All the characters are distinct—not necessarily well-developed—but I liked the way the main character's contrasting negative relationships was factored into the plot.

The killer's identity is pretty obvious, but there are plenty of other twists to keep the reader invested—one in particular I really liked. The solution to the locked room mystery is dumb, but in a fun way instead of a lame way, and I see real ingenuity behind it.

Not a must-read but worth a look if you're a locked room mystery fan tired of reading about bland heterosexual pairings, and I'm interested in seeing where the story goes next. Won't take much time to read through either.
